Fall Fashion: an interview with my mom
My mom has always been an inspiration to me, and especially in my early interest and appreciation for fashion and style. As kids, my mom dressed us in cute layered outfits and I always admired her outfits before she left for work each morning. Now, many pieces in my closet are either my mom’s or inspired by items she owns already. We have very similar style (like mother like daughter haha) and she has influenced my approach to chic, timeless style with a French flair. I thought it would be fun to do a short interview with my mom on fashion, specifically fall fashion, while I was home for Thanksgiving break. We also went through old photos from the 90’s when she worked in Washington D.C. and wore the cutest blazer sets, slip dresses, and layered looks.
What is your favorite clothing item that you’ve been wearing recently?
My navy blue mohair crewneck sweater. I style it with a gold necklace because it is a classic and looks great on camera for my many video work calls.
What is your favorite fall trend?
I love that blazers of all kinds are back this Fall! I have always loved blazers and own many.
What are your tips to layering and building an outfit?
I do like to layer and often wear a scarf that I can take off if I need to.
What types of items are you looking to add to your fall wardrobe this year?
An oversized blazer and loafers. It takes me back to outfits I used to wear in the 90s!
Who is your style inspiration?
Carolyn Bessette, Cindy Crawford, and Kate Moss.
What are three Fall staples that everyone needs?
Blazer
Scarf
Puffer
Do you prefer following trends or wearing classic pieces or a combination of both?
I like to always have a little piece of a current trend, but always go back to my classic looks that I can count on to feel great!
xoxo,
Josie
