The Scandi Summer Wardrobe Refresh
To extend my time abroad after five months studying in Spain, I am currently taking two classes over 7 weeks in Copenhagen, Denmark. I thought it would be fun to share a wardrobe refresh to dressing somewhat “Danish,” and how I’ve been styling my clothes (living out of the same capsule wardrobe checked luggage since January!!) to feel more elevated and effortless here, and definitely dressing more casually than I did in Madrid.
For starters, my summer in Copenhagen has been a full of up-and-down weather, so that plays a factor into my getting dressed in the morning! Upon arriving, I immediately noticed trends and ways of styling here which I wanted to incorporate into my everyday looks. The design/architecture/creative scene here is unmatched, and it reflects the Danish way of dressing.
For running out the door, to class & errands:
I have swapped my boots and loafers for ballet flats, sneakers, and… flip flops!! The girls here wear flip flops with every outfit- it is definitely a trend. Not sure if I can get behind this in the rain, but they pull it off! I am thinking of purchasing a fun pair of square toe Havaianas for an elevated version of this trend…
On the weekends:
When I am eating lunch in the (rare) pockets of sunshine, reading at the park, afternoon museum visits, or swimming in the canal. I’ve swapped out my Madrid uniform of skirts and knits for more laid-back layers, boxer shorts, tee shirts, and baggy jeans, most of which did not get enough wear in Spain. I pair everything with the tortoise sunglasses I purchased in Amsterdam, and am usually carrying a tote with all my essentials & sometimes a bikini!
For a bike ride along the canals:
I love to dress comfortably, and in my first week here bought a pair of striped lounge pants to pair with my cozy knit sweaters! Also have been loving a Canadian tuxedo look. I add ballet flats and LaJosette jewelry to feel more put-together, even when dressed casually.
For nights out:
I have swapped out my Madrid all-black uniform with heels/boots for a more casual look this summer; I love adding color to my dinner/drinks outfits, fun beaded purses, and my silver Mary janes for a fun pop.
Finishing my look:
Lots of cream bronzer, Dainty chain drop earrings, Hair thrown up in a fun claw clip, A pink glossy lip- always!
xoxo,
Josie
